Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2013 - Mini Quilt Entry

Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2013 Mini Quilt Entry

If you love a good quilt show with lots of eye candy, please go on over to Amy's Creative Side and have some fun!  Wow!  Talk about gorgeous and inspiring quilts!

This entry came about with a Mini Quilt Challenge by Jennifer Ellis at Ellison Lane and my love of Roy G. Biv.  It is paper pieced.  I am challenged when it comes to paper piecing so I had to do this one!  The pattern is by Lynne Goldsworthy at Lily's Quilts

I would love to do an entire quilt with several of these blocks!

Scrappy Quilts Entry

I have entered this quilt into Amy's Creative Side Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2013:

I had some leftover Amy Butler 'Lark' strips just hanging out in my closet that were begging to be used!  I came up with this quilt in my head and decided that these strips would be perfect for this quilt.  Or did I come up with this quilt to use the strips?  Not sure, but either way, I love the results!  (That doesn't always happen, BTW.)  I didn't write anything down and didn't take pictures while making it.  : (  Since it is in my head, I am certain I could make it again, though.  Really need to write it down!  I practiced my free motion quilting on my domestic sewing machine and tried doing a few things I hadn't really tried before.  Two blocks that didn't turn out quite right were put in with the backing.

I haven't entered this before and thought I'd jump in!  Here is the link:  Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2013  Looking forward to seeing all the inspiring and creative quilts!

Gorgeous Simple Squares Quilt!

Here are some pictures of quilts made with the pattern Simple Squares designed by my good and very talented friend Jessica.  It takes one layer cake, a jelly roll and some yardage for the border, binding and backing.  It is about 78" x 87" inches.  For a free PDF copy of this pattern, go here to Jessica's blog:   Sew Patched Up

This one was pieced by Jessica and made with the Good Fortune fabric line by Kate Spain:

A picture of the one I made in the Cuzco fabric line also by Kate Spain.

A fun, easy quilt to make without much, if any leftovers!

Type Quilt quilted and Mini Charm pack project

I got the Type Quilt quilted.  Just need to make the binding and sew it on.  The quilt ended up around 57" x 59".

Yes, that is sun shining on the quilt!  The sun came out today!  Yay!

I have received some really darling mini charm packs with some of my fabric orders.  Been wondering what to do with them.  Would love to know what others have done with theirs!  The other day, I pulled this panel out of my stash and used a Pot Luck mini charm pack along with some leftover scraps from making my mini spool mug rugs.  I got it quilted this morning, which was fun experimenting with some different things on my long arm.

I really like the Pot Luck fabric line!  Fun prints and happy colors!

Type Quilt Top

It has been rainy, cooler and gray most of the week.  That's good for sewing!  So, I made this quilt top using this tutorial.  The fabric is Type by Julia Rothman and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!  I found one last layer cake with 18 squares.  I have more fabric coming for the borders and backing.  (Won't get it today because of Columbus Day and no mail.)  : (  Oh well, I had other things to do! It will be a lap quilt that I am making for a friend.  I am seeing a definite trend in my quilts with the sashing.

Other things to do ~ Like get our new rescue doggy back in the yard after she'd escaped.  (Yes, we have 3 dogs now!)  Embroider some scrubs.  Load a gorgeous quilt on the long arm.  Download some digital patterns. And now I gotta get my behind to work to the day/real job!

Here's a couple of Halloween pillowcases I made for the Grandkids, too.  Love them!

Are quilters/crafters/sewers ever bored??!  I am thinking, NO.

3rd Quarter FAL's, UFO's...

For starters, let me post a picture of this finish of my Cuzco Quilt, which I love!  I especially like the machine quilting on it!

My list from the end of 2nd Q was:

Swoon Quilt (make at least 3 blocks this quarter)
July Tula Pink Modern Blocks
July Craftsy BOM
Glimma Quilt (Finish this quarter)
Dr. Seuss Grandson Quilt
My Husband's Winter Solstice Quilt (yes, from 2012)
Tumbling Blocks Quilt (not planning on finishing)
FMQ the Good Fortune Quilt
Stuffed Sea Horse for Charity (I made two and over $600 was raised because of our local MQG!)
Owlivia Quilt
Dr. Seuss Granddaughter Quilt
Modern Bliss Quilt
Happy Go Lucky Hash Tag Quilt
Cuzco Quilt

Obviously, the ones crossed out are the ones finished.  The others, I am carrying forward with the exception of the Tumbling Blocks Quilt.  That is a small quilt (wall hanging) and it is doubtful I will ever finish it.  Being realistic.  Well, looking at the list, maybe a tad unrealistic, too.  ; )

I will be linking up to this FAL with She Can Quilt
