Interrupted Finishes Done!

I wanted to post some of these finishes last Friday.  Arthur (the hurricane type), July 4th (my BDay), and family visiting for the weekend made it impossible for me to sit down and write a blog post.  Now I have a couple more finishes and am going to share all of them today!

First off, here are pictures of my Acacia Vintage Quilt Revival on our guest bed.  Family actually got to sleep under it!  It doesn't get much better than that!

With the matching pillows and shams that I made to go with it.

Without the pillows...

The borders, the binding and the quilting...

Before I took up quilting, instead of fabric, I pieced stained glass.  The above is one that I made about 12 plus years ago.  Quilting is a lot like working with stained glass; but there are no smelly fumes with quilting.

Another finish is the Tula Pink Craftsy Mystery Quilt!  Our A/C is not working upstairs, AGAIN, so no one got to sleep under this one.  Sigh.  Hope to have the A/C fixed next Tuesday.  I am going through long arm quilting withdrawal.

The bed frame is an antique family heirloom.

Another angle...

A close up of the quilting.  My DH let me know that this is one of his all time favorites.

Another finish in time for Arthur's, the BDay fairy's, and family's visit was the April Showers Piece of Cake II quilt.

I love the quilting pattern on this quilt!  Love!

Two other finishes since are:

A dress for my Granddaughter Stella!  This is Sarah Jane's Wee Wander fabric in Made by Rae's Geranium dress pattern.  I am a quilter.  Sewing clothing is not something I ordinarily enjoy, but this dress was easy to make.

Last but not least, a Saltwater fabric nursing cover for a Mom to be in the CCMQG.  The tutorial I used is this one from Craftaholics Anonymous.

Even though I haven't been blogging, I have been posting to Instagram (JMylander on Instagram if you want to follow) and getting some quilts and projects finished.

The Mystery Quilt Top is Finished

Another Tula Pink quilt top is done and is waiting it's turn on the longarm.  This will be going on our guest bed upstairs.  I added a couple of borders to get it to a large enough size.  Piecing this quilt went pretty fast, it was joining everything together that proved to be more difficult.  Matching all the points and such.  I am going to call it the Biased About Being Square quilt.  I love to square up my blocks, but there really wasn't any explanation on the workshop how to on this one.  Plus, is there a way to square up diamonds? Sewing a bias can really zap me as I tend to be too heavy handed "guiding" the fabric with my right hand. A bad habit that is proving to be hard to overcome.  Anyhoo, it was a challenge and the quilt is not quite square; it is a little off.  With the added borders it is about 88" x 93".  Can't wait to get this one quilted!

WIP Wednesday Sewing up a Mess!

Okay, this week has been another crazy one.  (But I DO crazy for some reason.)  For you accountant/payroll types, you know that 1Q 2014 tax filings are due by today.  Fun stuff!  Yeah, um hum.  On top of that, I had 34 scrub tops to embroider with names, etc.  34.  THAT really cut into my quilting time!  And my sewing room is a mess.

But when I did get a chance to get some sewing in, I worked on this baby:

Yes, Tula Pink's Mystery Quilt workshop on Craftsy.  The fabric is her Fox Fields line.  I have half of it sewn together.  It has been trickier than I thought to sew the diagonal rows together.  It is a good sized quilt!  (About 70" x 80")  I had to bring my other design wall down from upstairs to fit all the blocks on.  A border to add to the size so it will fit a double or queen sized bed?  Hmmmmm...

I did get some black and white striped binding sewn together for my wall hanging from Sew Lux Fabric.

Hope to have that done by Friday!

A pillow top pieced together to go with my Acacia Vintage Quilt Revival quilt.  This is a giant X & + pattern that is featured on Lily's Quilts by Sonia at Fabric and Flowers.  There was some extra fabric cut off of the corner pieces, so I made these...

I need a couple more pillows, so these will be incorporated.  No waste!
